Caisson Gardens
Somerset
Garden Details
Caisson Gardens are situated close to Bath in Somerset and have been lovingly restored over a number of years by the present owners. The focus has been on sustainability, creating a landscape that looks good and supports local wildlife. An interest in nature, art and design has shaped the direction of the garden, providing a clear and practical foundation for how the garden is designed and managed going forward.
The garden contains the remains of the “Caisson,” a revolutionary canal lock that was built with high hopes but ultimately failed and was replaced by traditional locks and canals, and which gave the garden its name. Today, these dry canal structures run throughout the space, creating a diverse ecosystem where each lock and section supports its own unique environment.
