Rode Hall Garden
Staffordshire
Garden Details
The gardens at Rode Hall Gardens surround the eighteenth-century country house Rode Hall and form part of a historic landscape developed from the late eighteenth century. The wider parkland was influenced by the landscape designer Humphry Repton and later carried out by John Webb. A key feature of the estate is Rode Pool, a long ornamental lake that provides a central focal point and reflects the naturalistic style typical of English landscape design of the period.
Closer to the house, the gardens combine formal structure with seasonal planting. A nineteenth-century terrace and rose garden designed by William Andrews Nesfield overlooks the parkland, while other areas include woodland gardens, a rock garden and extensive displays of spring bulbs such as snowdrops and bluebells. The estate also contains a large eighteenth-century walled kitchen garden that remains in active use, producing fruit, vegetables and flowers and forming an important part of the working landscape of the estate. 🌿
