The Manor, Hemingford Grey
Cambridgeshire
People visit the garden at The Manor, Hemingford Grey for many different reasons. Some to enjoy the plant collections such as the dazzling bearded Irises in early summer, others to see the flower-filled triple borders, coronation topiary or topiary chess set.
Increasingly visitors appreciate the multitude of wildflowers, the creatures they attract and the informal feel of these areas. The most important of the wildflowers are the Fritillaries which give way to Southern Marsh Orchids and Ragged Robin. The garden has year round attractions from Snowdrops through to colourful Cornus stems and a variety of winter-flowering shrubs.

Many are attracted to the remarkably history of the site: the Norman architecture of the house and the magnificent 300 year old elm, home to the rare white letter hairstreak butterfly.
The garden was the setting for Lucy M Boston’s Green Knowe books.
